Recently, the original sound frequencies used in Gregorian Chants sung by ancient Monks to St. John the Baptist were found by Dr. Leonard Horowitz while researching his book "Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse". The Monks chanted to a peculiar scale was said to manifest great miracles and bring the Monks closer to God. The reason the frequencies were lost are not clear. It appears that sometime about 800 years ago the original Solfeggio Frequencies were replaced with the scale you know today by the Pope. An additional note was added and the frequencies were changed slightly (the 'C' note you hear on a piano differs from the original frequency by about 32 Hz). Albert Einstein said that all matter is nothing more than vibration of energy. That matter that you can see and feel simply has its vibration set to a frequency that you can sense. So, it stands to reason that, if all matter is vibrational then God resonates through all things on His own vibrational frequency. It seems likely that if an individual could get his own cell structure vibrating on the same frequency as God, he could then commune with God more easily.

People who have listened to these frequencies report intense feelings of peace, calm and physical strength combined with an abundance of almost child-like energy.

I have personally listened to a chant called 'Holy Harmony' which employs all 6 of the individual frequencies mixed with a beautiful and melodious chant of "Yod Heh Shin Vav Heh" (which is the Hebrew name of Jesus Christ).

Rather than the Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti that you know, the Monks chanted to the six Solfeggio Frequencies.

Modern science is only now beginning to recognizing what the ancient mystics and wise men have told us for centuries; that everything (including you) is in a constant state of vibration. The most elemental state of vibration is that of sound. Everything has an optimum range of vibration, and that rate is called resonance. When we are in resonance, we are in balance. One way to use sound to heal the body is to recognize that every organ, and every cell, absorbs and emits sound, and has a particular optimim resonate frequency.

Emotions and mental states also have certain resonant frequencies; this is the secret behind the transformative power of spiritul music and song, spoken prayers and mantras. When exposed to a resonant frequency long enough, the body (and mind) will fall into sync; if you have ever been to a large rock concert or a rave, you will understand this. If you sing in a choir, or regularly meditate with mantras, you will intuitively understand this too, because you have experienced it. Therapeutic sound and sound therapy techniques are used to realign the "out of sync frequencies" you may be experiencing within you mind or body, by exposing you to the optimum frequencies for the changes you wish to make within yourself.
Brain Wave States
Scientist have discovered that our brains operate in four levels of frequency- beta, alpha, theta and delta. Each level of frequency is measured in cycles per second, or hertz- hz.

Beta has the highest frequency, between 13 and 40 cycles per second. This is associated with our normal, everyday waking state. Beta helps in logical thinking, analysis, and active attention. Stress can throw the frequency to the higher ranges of beta.

Alpha operates between 8 and 13 cycles per second. This occurs during daydreaming, fantasizing and creative visualization. This is often associated with a deeply relaxed state, and with a light trance or meditation.

Theta operates between 4 and 8 cycles per second. Theta is associated with intuition, and allows us to access our subconscious. It is activated during dream sleep and deep meditational states. Theta is also associated with creative thinking, and allows us to tap into our inner genius.

Delta has the lowest frequency between 0.5 and 4 cycles per second. Delta is produced during deep sleep.

What Are Solfeggio Frequencies?

AUN is the ambient doom project of Montreal’s Martin Dumais who describes his take on outsider metal meets shoegaze as ‘blight metal’. He has been a crucial contributor to the Montreal music scene for years. Elements of Aun’s sound can be traced to the classic period of ambient music marked by the likes of Cluster & Eno as well as to contemporary players such as Tim Hecker. AUN erects vast walls of crumbling distortion forged into apocalyptic ambient drift streaked with heavenly cosmic fx, crushing blasts of immolating hellish symphonies of rusted scraping strings and celestial electronic whiteout.
In a live situation AUN crafts his sound through guitar and a bevy of effects, offering a far more engaging visual experience than your average laptop based performance.
To date AUN has released seven solo records as well as a collaborative effort with Allseits. His latest release is "Motorsleep" (Alien8 Records 09).

B_TONG is from Basel and a former member of German industrial cult-group NID (www.nid-musik.com).The music of B_TONG lies somewhere between dark ambient, drone and experimental electronic sounds, he himself calls it “soundscapes”. He has toured throughout Europe several times and appeared at renown festivals. This year he completed a twelve-date tour of the east-coast of North America.Live he uses a multitude of effect-pedals, through which he feeds sounds generated by playing on various kitchen utensils, a metal spring, and other gadgets. He too is an artist who refuses to hide behind laptop and visuals - he IS the visual and his soundscapes are improvised on the spot. B_TONG has released a number of albums so far, his latest being: Structures CD (Noecho Records) and Hysteria MCD (Verato Project).

MRTNPLMR hails from Trondheim, Norway where he has been performing various live sets since 2006. His project revolves around topics such as fascism, perversion, spirituality and surrealism and has been described as an "exploration of various concepts with the use of contrasting samples from various cultural backgrounds adding to this a foreground of drones and noise based sounds" and also "occult mindfucknoise."This is his first performance outside the Kingdom of Norway.

Staplerfahrer to pseudonim artystyczny Steffan 'a de Turck (Goirle, 1974), Duńskiego muzyka, który bawi się skrzypiącymi i połamanymi dźwiękami, gadżetami do zapętlania i falami elektromagnetycznymi… już od 15 lat.
"Na początku lat 90, kiedy studiowałem elektronikę i budowałem moje własne oscylatory i generatory tonu zacząłem coraz bardziej interesować się dźwiękiem jako czysto fizycznym wydarzeniem.

Wcześniej rozbierałem na części moje (lub mojej siostry) ektroniczne zabawki, żeby się dowiedzieć skąd bierze się wytwarzany przez nie hałas… Później ewoluowało to w rozbieranie i przetwarzanie mojego własnego sprzętu audio - przekształciłem wewnętrzny wzmacniacz mojego pierwszego odtwarzacza w theremin…
Wszystkie niespodzianki, które po drodze odkryłem były dla mnie wstępem do świata pisków, brzęczenia i trzasków. Od tamtej pory moja fascynacja dźwiękiem była coraz silniejsza, jak również potrzeba do przetworzenia tych dźwięków, tak aby można było zastosować je w artystycznej/muzycznej formie zarówno podczas występów na żywo jak i nagrań."

Nils Rostad has been playing improvised guitar for years (in addition to being a painter). His style is self-taught and can be very intense and private, owing more to american primitives like Dredd Foole, Loren Connors or Christina Carter, than to the european avant-garde and the free jazz. Using both timbre, attack and volume as effects (in additon to effect pedals) his sound comes across as highly personal and sparse. He has also been playing as a duo w/ Sindre Bjerga under the name Magnetic North Duo.

Staplerfahrer is the artistic moniker for Steffan de Turck (Goirle, 1974), a Dutch sound artist who plays around with crunched and broken sounds, circuit bended gadgetry and electro-magnetic waves… and this already for about 15 years.
"In the beginning of the nineties, while studying electronics and building my own oscillators and tone generators, I became more and more interested in sound as a pure physical event. Before I was already tearing up my own electronic toys (or those of my sister), in order to find out what it actually was, what made that noise…
Later on, this also evolved in circuitbending my own audio equipment; I transformed the internal amplifier of my first recordplayer into a noise theremin… All the surprises I discovered along the way were my introduction into the world of bleep, click and crackle. From then on, my fascination for sounds grew stronger and stronger, as did the need to process these sounds and apply them into an artistic/musical format… both live as actual audio releases."

The meeting theme "Chain Reaction" illustrates the network itself, the way it works and functions, correlates and interacts. The Upgrade! International started as a creative spark that gradually grew into an international group of nodes influencing each other continually through permanent communication.
The meeting gathers Upgrade! nodes into one core event in Macedonia and will hopefully cause a positive chain reaction. Upgrade! network gathers annually or bi-annually, each time in a different city for a festival by artists who participated in the Upgrade! meetings around the world.
